A charming expression of Breton heritage, the Tradition Woman Miniature Plate celebrates one of the classic figures associated with authentic Quimper pottery.
Handmade and hand-painted in Quimper, Brittany, France, this petite plate features a Breton woman dressed in traditional regional costume. Her colorful clothing and distinctive hand-painted details reflect the folk-art traditions of Brittany and give the plate the unmistakable character of classic Quimper faience.
The Tradition pattern is especially appealing to collectors who appreciate the historic designs of Quimper pottery. The Breton woman is an enduring symbol of Brittany, making this small plate a wonderful representation of the region's culture and decorative arts.
Measuring just 4.75 inches, the Tradition Woman Miniature Plate is perfect for display in a French country kitchen, china cabinet, bookshelf, or tabletop. Its petite size also makes it a thoughtful gift for a Quimper collector, Francophile, or anyone with a special appreciation for Brittany and traditional French pottery.
Quimper’s remarkable tradition of faience pottery dates back to 1690. For more than three centuries, generations of artisans have preserved the art of creating and decorating pottery by hand in this historic Breton town.
Display the Tradition Woman Miniature Plate individually or pair it with the Tradition Man Miniature Plate to create a classic Breton couple. Several miniature Quimper plates can also be grouped together for a colorful display of authentic French faience.
Each piece is individually hand-painted by a skilled artist, so subtle differences in the Breton figure, colors and brushwork give every plate its own unique character.
