Small in size but rich in French character, the Camaïeu Blue Miniature Plate is a charming example of authentic Quimper faience, handmade and hand-painted in Quimper, Brittany, France.
Decorated in the elegant Camaïeu Blue palette, this petite plate features the soft, expressive blue brushwork that gives the collection its timeless appeal. Its classic blue-and-white coloring makes it especially lovely in a French country kitchen, on a tabletop, in a cabinet, or displayed as part of a collection of Quimper pottery.
The miniature size also makes this plate a delightful French gift or collectible. Display it individually as a small decorative accent or combine several miniature Quimper plates in different patterns to create a colorful grouping.
Quimper’s remarkable tradition of faience pottery dates back to 1690, when Jean Baptiste Bousquet established his pottery in Quimper. For more than three centuries, generations of artisans have continued the tradition of creating and decorating pottery by hand in this historic Breton town.
Each piece is individually hand-painted, so subtle differences in color and brushwork are part of the beauty and character of genuine Quimper pottery. No two pieces are exactly alike.
Whether given as a special gift, added to a collection, or used as a decorative accent, the Camaïeu Blue Miniature Plate brings a little piece of Brittany and centuries of French pottery tradition into the home.
