Quimper Pottery Factory Marks
As you learned in our section on Tradition & History of Quimper Faience, there have been multiple factories and a variety of factory names in the over 340 years of faience production in Quimper since 1690.
Authentic Quimper pottery is generally marked, usually on the bottom with hand-painted signatures or initials identifying the factory (such as HB, Henriot, Porquier-Beau, Henriot Quimper, etc). Often the town "Quimper" is present but not always. While most pieces are marked, many older pieces (predating 1870) may not be. Marks varied widely over time and identifying marks may be a little tricky.
